They’re back!

Aroha Music Society is bringing the two top prize-winners in the 2008 Kerikeri National Piano Competition, Jun Bouterey-Ishido and Tony Lin, to play a concert of music for four hands at one piano in the New World bar at 7.30pm on Friday the 3rd of November.

Jun will be familiar to NZ audiences from the concert stage and his competition successes, including 1st  Prize at the 2008 Kerikeri International Piano Competition. Since then his studies have taken him to the Liszt Academy, Budapest, to Stuttgart, where he graduated in 2014 with Distinction from the Konzertexamen (Soloist Diploma) programme, and Basel, where he completed a Masters in Chamber Music with his Calvino Trio, in 2016. He has also studied in masterclasses with renowned pianists including Michael Houstoun, Piers Lane, Peter Frankl and Alfred Brendel. Currently he is on the faculty at the University of Music in Hannover.

Tony won first prize at the NZ National Concerto Competition in 2007,  and second prize and the “Best Classical Sonata Performance Award” at the 2008 Kerikeri National Piano Competition. He is a four-time recipient of the Lilburn Trust Student Composition Award  (2006–2009) as well as the 2007 NZSO Todd Young Composer Award. He moved to Europe in 2012, and he also recently graduated with Distinction from his Soloist Diploma, studying with Andreas Immer in Freiburg as well as with Balázs Szokolay at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.

Jun and Tony are playing Schubert’s Grand Duo, some Bach, Stravinsky’s own four-hand version of the Rite of Spring, and Ravel’s La Valse.
