Art Exhibition – ‘Negotiating Space’

featuring works by artist Catherine Dunn

Catherine Dunn is the fulltime practicing Artist and co-owner at Studio 19 in Kerikeri.

“Negotiating Space” is a series of work that explores visual space through complex layers of colour and texture in order to arrive at a relatively simple and seemingly uncomplicated result.

On another level, we humans are constantly navigating our way through our thoughts and emotions in an attempt to rationalise our existence in a seemingly chaotic and multifaceted world.

Ultimately,we emerge from this often disordered process with a clearer, more assured vision for our future and in retrospect it doesn’t seem that complicated at all.  However, we can’t arrive at a conclusion without first having gone through the process.

In part, and on a personal level, this series is a reflection on that process.
