Kerikeri Quilters Club is a live and active group in Kerikeri. Their Committee organise regular monthly meetings to share ideas, new techniques and inspiration from other members or guest speakers.
Their members also have access to a library of quilting books and magazines and special quilting tools. Twice yearly, they hold quilting ‘retreats’ at nearby Lonsdale Park, where members can be in a quilters paradise for a weekend of continuous quilting without any interruptions, except the pleasant hum of other quilters working and chatting.
From time to time they embark on ‘community quilting’ projects and exhibitions, where members create a quilt to be raffled to raise funds along with exhibition proceeds to benefit community organisations. Last year they donated $2,000 to Hospice. They also make and donate quilts to other charities, including children’s quilts to Women’s Refuge.
At this exhibition there will be quilt sales, merchants tables and raffle tickets for sale, with raffle proceeds going to the Northland Emergency Services Trust and the Tourettes Charity.
