They are joined by Kevin Field on piano, Ron Samsom, drums, and Cameron McArthur, bass.

Kevin Field, Piano. One of New Zealand’s finest Jazz musicians Kevin has performed concerts in the UK, USA, and Australia. He has released his own albums including a recent release called ‘The A List,’ that was recorded in New York with top international musicians. He has featured on many albums as sideman including Nathan Haines, Catlin Smith, Whirimako Black and also the NZ Symphony Orchestra.

Kevin’s approach to jazz harmony is probably the most recognizable element to his playing and compositions. He is also a senior lecturer in Jazz Studies at the University of Auckland and holds a doctorate in musical arts, specialising in advanced jazz harmony.

Ron Samsom, Drums.  Originally from Canada Ron has lived in Auckland since 2003. He has collaborated with top international jazz artists and has been the coordinator for the Jazz Studies Programme at the University of Auckland. The word diversity best describes Ron’s approach to improvisational based music and a keen interest in many genres has led to an explorative musical career. We gladly welcome back Ron to the Kerikeri Jazz Club.

Cameron McArthur. Since graduating from the University of Auckland with a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance in 2012, Cameron has been contributing to the Auckland music scene, performing with artists such as Roger Manins, Ron Samsom, Nathan Haines, Kevin Field, Carolina Moon, and many more. As well as live performance, Cameron has recorded with New Zealand artists such as Anita Schwabe, Mark Donlon, Michal Martynuik as well as with the Auckland Jazz Orchestra, Sal Valentine and the Babyshakes and the Neutrino Funk Experience.
