Judi Soutar – Eclectic Forms
Experimental forms in acrylic paint by Jusi Soutar
Showcasing experimental forms in acrylic paint from Kerikeri artist Judi Soutar.
Judi was born in London and after leaving school at a young age, took a foundation course at an Art School there. Many years Iater, moving to the Far North and joining the Cherry Park Painting Group in the early 1990s, she once again re-found her love for the visual arts. Since then she has been exhibiting in many of Kerikeri’s art exhibitions and galleries. She was a founding member of the Art Upstairs cooperative gallery. Judi also was involved with the late Rona Swallow in establishing the annual Art at a Vineyard, the profits from which went into a trust fund, interest of which was used as a grant for students from the High School going on to a university course in the visual arts.
She was also involved in rescuing the permanent collection, getting it reframed, raising the funds to acquire the display and hanging systems for The Turner Center. If asked what her style is or what her preferred medium is, she will say “lt’s what I’m doing right now” as she is always interested in the next thing, so can’t be put in any box and is always looking to engage the viewer. Judi paints for herself in the first instance and is always delighted if her paintings and drawings are appreciated by others.
Currently she teaches both at Cherry Park Mouse and the Kerikeri Retirement Village.
Meanwhile since the beginning of the years she has launched out into these experimental works which are been shown here for the first time and hope you enjoy the outcome.
